California Drought

California is experiencing the worst drought since records have been kept. We all have a part of play in helping each other get through this crisis. The Conservancy is providing this Drought resource page to provide you with links to relevant information and suggestions on how you can help save water. This page will be updated periodically to bring you additional drought related news.

Governor’s Drought Task Force. Governor Brown established an inter-agency task force in a December 17, 2013, letter: The task force has been meeting weekly at the Capitol beginning on January 3. The Governor’s Office and Cal Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) are the organizers of the task force meetings. Participating State agencies and departments include: Natural Resources Agency, Department of Water Resources (DWR), State Water Resources Control Board (Water Board), Department of Food and Agriculture, Public Health Department (PHD), Department of General Services (DGS), Governor’s Tribal Liaison, and Department of Social Services.

State of Emergency Proclamation. Governor Brown issued a State of Emergency proclamation due to drought on January 17, 2014. The proclamation, with its 20 orders, provided direction to State agencies and departments. The weekly task force meetings now are focused primarily on what has been accomplished for each of these orders and what additional inter-agency coordination needs to take place to complete the orders. The proclamation can be found here.
